Kingslee Guest House is about ¾ mile from Betalbatim beach, so about fifteen to twenty minutes gentle stroll for most of us. The beach here has several beach shacks, increasing as you get closer to Colva. This is still a relatively peaceful beach and is great for an afternoon stroll along the shore. Dolphins and birds of prey are often sighted here and everyone is friendly, which is why it is so popular with us.
Betalbatim beach is part of the bigger Colva Beach, constituting the longest unbroken stretch of white sand in the state, spanning 25kms from the Mormugao penninsula in the north to Cabo da Rama (Cape Rama) in the south.
Lined by a deep band of coconut plantations, it sweeps south to the horizon, seemingly empty save for an occasional rank of wooden outriggers or a fleet of trawlers bobbing in the middle of the bay. Although tourism is starting to make its mark along this coastline with several fishing settlements being developed, there still exists an aura of peace and privacy inland, nestling under the lush tree cover can be found original fishing communities and hamlets interconnected by a series of sandy tracks and lanes that feed the busy north-south highway.
